The Institute

Founded in 2006 and currently managed by Dr. Julian Berchtold, IIS Zürich is an independent research institute dedicated to advance scientific and technologic research by forming international university-industry partnerships. We answer scientific questions as well as address challenges in industry in the field of engineering sciences - plant construction and engineering as well as civil engineering.

What we do

By bringing together scientific research with industrial R&D we develop new technologies and enable the establishment of new areas of expertise for our partners. We initiate, plan, lead and execute scientific, R&D and venture projects and design, engineer and construct prototypes, measuring and test systems. Implementing the symbiosis of university and industry enables our collaborators to tackle their challenges integrally and ensures them not being left with concepts only but participating in the ongoing process of scientific and technologic evolution.
